Alpine Sky

Skiing in the Alps is so much more than just a sport to me. I deeply love staying active, especially out in nature, and skiing is easily one of my top two favorite sports of all time. It is my ritual, a pursuit of calm, and an endless stream of creative inspiration.

While the Alps offer countless breathtaking spots, my heart belongs to the Friuli region in Italy. My absolute favorite place is Sella Nevea, where I took all of these photographs, though I also love returning to nearby Tarvisio.

Sella Nevea has a wild, untouched purity to it—a place where mist drifts through soft sunlight, creating scenes that truly take your breath away. Since photography is such a natural extension of who I am, I don't just bring my skis to the slopes; I bring a painter’s eye. Capturing these moments myself lets me freeze that feeling of standing on a ridge, surrounded by vast white space, listening to pure silence.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is simply surround yourself with endless white and absolute silence, letting your mind reset so entirely new ideas can finally take shape. I go there to soak in that atmosphere of freedom, crisp air, and space to breathe. To me, snow is never just white—it is alive with cool blue shadows, gold sunlight, and subtle textures that subtly find their way onto my canvas.

Yet, as much as I love the crisp mountain air, there is nothing quite like returning to the warmth of home after a full day on the slopes. Wrapping my hands around a steaming cup of tea or hot cocoa, I love to just unwind and dream up what to paint next, turning those frozen, quiet moments into something deeply cozy.
