ABOUT  SARA

Her paintings are inspired by nature and its elements. She engages in painting with feelings connected to specific natural or figural motifs, similar to the Impressionists, capturing brief moments and emotions from nature with unconventional, expressive brushstrokes. In her painting process, she mostly paint in nature. Besides expressive painting, Sara also focuses on figurative sculpture, in which she captured woman feelings in specific life moments.

Artistic Journey and Inspiration

Sara Cambalová began her exhibition career in London and is currently exhibiting in Venice and Rome. Her artistic journey started at SUP Bratislava and continued at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. She later studied figurative sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice under Giuseppe la Bruna, where she honed her anatomy modeling skills. The rich historical art scene and architecture of Venice deeply inspired her.

Collaboration and Modern Style

Sara spent part of her life at the Murano Berengo glass studio in Venice, collaborating on glass casting for prominent artists such as Ai Weiwei and Tony Cragg. She then moved to London, where living on a houseboat allowed her to draw inspiration from the city's vibrant contemporary art scene and nature. This experience led her to develop a modern style well-suited for contemporary interiors.

Current Life and Nature Inspiration

Currently, Sara divides her time between Cividale in Italy and Trnava in Slovakia. Cividale, located in the Friuli region, inspires her with the green forests of the Italian Alps and the Natizone River. In Trnava, her hometown, she participates in projects at the western Slovak museum. She also spent part of her life between London and Folkestone, drawing inspiration from the dramatic coastal cliffs and sea of southern Engl

Artistic Practice and Evolution

"Alongside my beautiful and precise restoration work on sculptures and architecture, I dedicate time to creating my own art. My early paintings were focused on an expressionistic style, capturing the essence of nature (Storm, The Beginning, Hidden Behind the Cloud, Desert), where I experimented with colors.

Focus on Female Experience and Symbolism

Currently, my greatest motivation comes from portraying women in various life situations. I celebrate and admire their strength and femininity, aiming to capture these powerful moments of the female experience (Morning Yoga, Pink Panther, Jungle). I also enjoy painting symbols like circles, which represent the mysticism and infinity of life and the universe (Gold Circle, Midnight).

Techniques and Current Endeavors

I use a variety of materials for painting, including mirrors, foils, wood, canvas, paper, aluminum, and graphic techniques like linocut (Diana in Africa, Pink Lady). Additionally, I create figurative sculptures from materials such as bronze, glass, wood, plaster, and modern materials like epoxy resins. I am currently learning to work with digital media and new technologies, which complement my diverse modern art practice. My current residency is in Prague, where I both paint in my studio and restore historical sites.
