At the Edge of the World

Nature is an extraordinary source of energy, but there are places where its force truly resonates deep within you. Traveling along the western coast of Portugal was precisely that kind of experience for me. The journey from Porto in the north, through iconic Nazaré, fairytale Sintra, the westernmost point of continental Europe at Cabo da Roca, historic Lisbon, and down to the southern beaches of Lagos and Faro left a profound mark on me.

Silence at the Edge of Europe
The most powerful moment came at Cabo da Roca. When you stand at the very edge of a towering rocky cliff, with the deep Atlantic Ocean crashing violently below you and nothing ahead but endless sky, sun, and water, you feel something indescribable.
It is a moment when you feel as though you are standing at the very edge of the world—where the mainland fades away and an infinite expanse begins. From here, across the open ocean, it is thousands of kilometers to the shores of the Americas. This idea of infinity, the untamed strength of the wind, the cool water, and the endless line of the horizon is pure magic for an artist.

Translating the Ocean onto Canvas
I brought that sense of absolute freedom, the wind, and the endless horizon back with me to the studio. The power of the ocean, along with the contrast between solid, unyielding rocks and the dynamic movement of the water, naturally flowed into my paintings.
In the abstract lines, gestural textures, and expressive brushstrokes of my artwork, I strive to capture that exact moment on the cliff: breathing in the salty sea air, feeling the contrast of the cold breeze and warm sunlight, and drawing pure energy and grounded harmony from nature.
Nature constantly teaches us that true beauty lies in freedom and unbridled strength.
